The European Commission’s framework programmes Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe have supported several research and innovation projects on food safety under the Food 2030 pathway, “Food Safety Systems of the Future.”
As part of this effort, Unit B2 (Bioeconomy and Food System) organised a workshop on Horizon Food Safety projects, which TITAN had the opportunity to attend. The workshop brought together projects working on a wide range of food safety topics, including traceability and transparency, food fraud prevention, and risk assessment and management.
The event aimed to gather project coordinators and scientific representatives to share knowledge, present results, and discuss emerging research and innovation needs. It also provided a platform to build synergies and exchange insights across different projects.
TITAN partner ILSI Europe took part in the workshop as Project Coordinator of TITAN, one of ten projects invited by the Research Executive Agency (REA). The discussions addressed challenges in project implementation, upcoming opportunities from results achieved so far, and future needs for research and innovation in the next framework programme.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of instruments and approaches that enable a multi-actor model for data sharing, exploitation, and replicability. This is seen as key to ensuring long-term sustainability and impact, particularly after projects come to an end.
