TITAN Participates in the Functional Foods for Wellness Summit to Advance Probiotic Innovation

MICROBION, representing the TITAN project, was invited to speak at the Functional Foods for Wellness Summit, held on 20–21 January 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. The presentation addressed recent taxonomy updates in the probiotic sector as well as emerging challenges associated with new categories of probiotic supplements. The summit brought together regulatory experts in food supplements from across Asia, with strong representation from India, China, and Japan, providing a valuable platform for engagement with stakeholders in the probiotic and fermented foods ecosystem.

During the event, MICROBION shared key findings from the TITAN food safety pilot, showcasing high-resolution microbial composition analysis applied to probiotics and fermented products. These insights demonstrated how advanced analytical approaches can help strengthen quality control practices and enhance supply-chain reliability across the sector. In addition, MICROBION’s Antonio Del Casale participated in a panel discussion comparing the US GRAS framework and the EU QPS list in the context of probiotic supplement authorisation.

Overall, the summit offered an excellent opportunity for TITAN to present concrete and innovative solutions developed within the project for the agri-food sector. Through pilot-based demonstrations of a wide range of advanced technologies, TITAN aims to improve transparency and support societal and planetary health, contributing to a food system that is fairer, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable.
