TITAN pilot case: testing kids’ gaming platform in schools

One of the TITAN pilot cases for health, 360° Healthy Nutritional Habits Tool for Kids, aims to develop an AI-powered platform incorporating gamification elements to promote knowledge of healthy and sustainable eating among children and adults, ultimately encouraging better food choices. Initially available in English and Spanish, the platform will later be adapted to additional languages. To evaluate its impact and usability, a six-week intervention will be conducted in two schools in Spain, representing different contexts, assessing its effectiveness among students and their families.

To launch the intervention with teachers and students at the collaborating schools, TITAN partner AZTI visited two schools in the Basque region: Iruarteta School in Bilbao and La Merced Intermediate School in Derio. During this visit they explained the project, and performed with students the first missions and challenges of the game that will engage them and keep their attention during the time of use of the tool.

Different awareness activities were carried out, the children solved collaborative challenges and used their creativity to build together ships and characters around the game. During the weeks of the intervention, they will answer different assessment and perception questionnaires about their experience. The results of the intervention including the comparative questionnaires before and after the intervention will be analysed and used as a starting point for other contexts.

More updates on the pilot’s progress will follow, so stay tuned!
