TITAN organized an insightful webinar for its Key Expertise Area on Facilitating Supply Chain Sustainability. The event featured two distinguished speakers who shared their perspectives on current advancements in Corporate Sustainability Reporting (CSRD) and digital traceability.
Amanda Koufoud Simonsen from Denmark delivered a presentation on the Latest Developments in CSRD Reporting. Amanda highlighted three core pillars essential for achieving effective ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting and decision-making:
- Transparency & Trust: Emphasized the importance of reliability and validity in sustainability metrics and data.
- Measurable Outcomes: Stressed that quantifiable results should form the basis of sustainability information, transition strategies, and future growth projections.
- Informed Decision-Making & Risk Management: Advocated for companies to leverage collected data not only for reporting but also for strategic decision-making to improve sustainability outcomes.
John G. Keogh from the US/Canada followed with a session on Latest Developments in (Digital) Traceability. He addressed the complexity of food supply chains and the critical need for interoperability among different players. John explained that merely recording transactions with Blockchain technology is insufficient; scientific validation of transactions is also necessary.
John further clarified that Digitization focuses on refining data accuracy, whereas Digitalization involves embedding these practices into an organization’s workflow. He highlighted the necessity of having systems that can generate external and internal alerts to address food safety, fraud, and defense. John concluded by emphasizing the importance of organizations proactively analyzing this data to identify potential issues before they escalate.
The webinar proved to be a valuable session for participants, equipping them with insights into cutting-edge practices that drive supply chain sustainability.
